Grandad sparks police probe by flying World War Two Nazi flag

Nazi flag outside his home - despite his claims that it was all down to his interest in military history. Police have launched a probe after the red and black swastika emblem was displayed in a front garden - the day after the Battle of Britain 80th anniversary.

Residents were left outraged after seeing the World War Two German insignia outside the home of Steve Allman and branded it an insult to Britain’s war heroes.

But the 66-year-old says he did not mean to cause any offence by erecting the controversial flag and he had actually done so to honour the nation’s troops.Steve claims he put up the emblem of the Luftwaffe's Zeppelin Korps at his home in Worcestershire to commemorate the sinking of the first German U-boat during World War Two.
