Sam Champion is back on TV, and addressing his facial scar. The Good Morning America and WABC weather anchor recently underwent surgery for skin cancer treatment, and opened up about the experience in a segment on the show on Friday (October 18).

The weatherman explained that he had a mark on his right cheek removed earlier this month at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, which turned out to be nodular basal cell carcinoma, and was “larger and deeper” than predicted. But now, he doesn’t “leave home without putting on sunscreen.” “No matter how old you are — my first one was at 26 — no matter what your skin tone, your skin type, your skin color, they’re cutting skin cancer off of everybody.
