GEORGE Clarke's property programme left viewers with a big problem last night. The latest instalment of Old House, New Home had viewers astonished that the featured property was worth £800,000.

The Channel 4 show sees old historic houses be transformed into modern and liveable homes. Last night's episode saw architect and presenter George tackle a six-bedroom semidetached late Victorian house in Sydenham, South East London.

He described the abode as "more disastrous than desirable". Viewers were introduced to Deputy Headteacher Philip and Partnerships Manager Emily and their two-year-old son Archie.

Emily's inheritance following her dad's death enabled the couple to take the plunge and purchase the house.
