Actress Gemma Atkinson has revealed that she nearly died while giving birth after losing a lot of blood. She also admitted that her Strictly professional dancing star fiance Gorka Marquez was in tears as doctors fought to keep her alive.This was during the birth of her first child back in 2019 as her daughter, Mia's, heart rate suddenly dropped which plunged Gemma into an emergency caesarean.

Gemma, 38, has opened up about the traumatic experience of her firstborn child as she had to re-live it all as she welcomed her baby boy Thiago last month.

Speaking to MailOnline, Gemma said: "My first birth was a traumatic one.They gave me a form about blood transfusions that asked if one of us had to be saved, which one would it be. "It could have gone very differently.

Immediately afterwards you think to yourself, 'Gosh, would I go through that again?' Then you look at your child and think, 'I'd do it all again tomorrow.' That's the nature of motherhood." A new documentary is set to tell the story of Gemma's pregnancy struggles as she went through her second birth.
