Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville believes the club would be better building a brand new state of the art stadium opposed to undertaking work on Old Trafford.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News on Monday evening, United are open to several ideas to redevelop Old Trafford — including the possibility of completely rebuilding the stadium in its current location.

The club is currently locked in talks with several planners and are keeping their options open. United are yet to appoint a planner to undertake the works, but those who are competing for the contract have offered a variety of schemes and the club's hierarchy are keeping an open mind before settling on who they will use to complete the project chosen.

Old Trafford has fallen behind other Premier League stadia and is in desperate need of modernising in places. READ MORE: How Manchester United should line up vs Atletico Madrid in Champions League fixture Of the proposals submitted, the most ambitious is for Old Trafford to be completely rebuilt.
