The Brazilian was allegedly hit with racist comments on his social media pages after United's 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.

Fred made an error that allowed Kelechi Iheanacho to open the scoring for Leicester. And although Mason Greenwood equalised, United conceded two more goals after half-time to exit the cup at the last-eight stage.

The 28-year-old responded to the abuse on Instagram by posting a picture of him taking the knee behind the words "no more racism".
