A youth football coach launched an assault on an off-duty police officer over a row about the behaviour of his dogs, a court has heard.
Timothy O’Hanlon was knocked to the floor and punched in the head by Michael Lever on the morning of November 6 last year. Mr O'Hanlon had argued with Lever after two American bulldog pups had launched an attack on his own dog.
Mr O'Hanlon thought his dog was going to die in the incident, the Liverpool Echo reports . He later said: “I was honestly thinking they were going to kill him.” Paulinus Barnes, prosecuting, described how Mr O'Hanlon saw a couple coming out of the woods after the attack.
