Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick will be telling some of his players to tread carefully in the coming weeks with key personnel just a single yellow card away from suspension.

Premier League rules state that players who have picked up five yellow cards before matchday 19 — or December 31 — will serve a one-match suspension for their accumulation.

This ruling gets wiped when the New Year comes in, meaning a player will not have to sit out a game should they reach this threshold after December.

However, players who go on to receive 10 yellow cards before matchday 32 will serve a two-game suspension. The reset date may change next season when the league takes a break due to the 2022 Qatar World Cup being held in December.
