Fire crews race to huge blaze at derelict building in Greenock

Greenock tonight sparking a massive emergency service operation. Fire crews and officers from Police Scotland are on Campbell Street in the Inverclyde town tackling the blaze.

The inferno broke out at the former Arts Guild Theatre. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8pm on Thursday, October 22.Police have cordoned off the area.Four fire appliances were sent to the scene and remain there in a bid to put out the blaze.It is not yet known if anyone has been injured.The Arts Guild Theatre was a local institution that served the town for over 60 years, it has been closed for over seven years.It's believed that the derelict building had been scheduled for demolition.A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said:.
