The remaining 11 countries on the red list will be removed from tomorrow, the Scottish Government has announced. A number of southern African countries were added to the strict travel rules last month after the Omicron variant was first reported by health officials in South Africa.
Arrivals from Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe were required to pay for hotel quarantine when landing in any part of the UK.The Scottish Government has now been confirmed that all 11 countries will be removed from the red list from 4am on Wednesday.Red list measures were originally implemented for travellers from these nations in a bid to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant.
