Former Manchester United defender Saidy Janko has slammed the "unacceptable" events that led to their plane making an emergency landing.
The 28-year-old was a part of the Gambian national team that endured dizziness and headaches as a result of a lack of oxygen that forced their flight to the Ivory Coast to end prematurely.
The flight was in the air for nine minutes before the aircraft encountered pressurisation issues causing those on board to fall unconscious.
Gambia begin their Africa Cup of Nations exploits on Monday when they take on reigning champions Senegal. The FIFA-ranked 126 in the world face Cameroon and Guinea in Group C but their preparations have been marred by the "inhumane" circumstances on their flight to the tournament.
