Emirates Airline is offering staff voluntary leave as demand for air travel drops due to coronavirus fears. The company sent an internal memo asking employees to consider taking leave, both paid or unpaid.
Emirates currently employs more than 100,000 people, and the airline said it has seen a 'measurable slow-down in business across brands'.
The memo asked those with large amounts of annual leave accrued to take paid leave, and also offered voluntary unpaid leave to all non-operational roles.
Emirates has also suspended flights to and from China, with the exception of Beijing, as well as Iran. UAE nurseries have been told to close for two weeks as a precautiouary measure, however schools remain open.
