Emergency services respond after tanker veers off road and smashes into bushes

A tanker veered off a road and smashed into some bushes in Stockport this morning. Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash at the junction of Hall Street and St Mary's Street at around 10am.

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics were scrambled to the incident. Pictures showed a large tanker that had ploughed into some bushes on the verge of the main road.

The road was closed for almost three hours as recovery work was carried out. A cordon was put in place at the scene. Hall Street was reopened at around 12.45pm.
