Edinburgh Fringe Festival organisers have announced today that the event will not go ahead this summer. Organisers say that the decision was not taken lightly but the public's health comes first.The festival has been running for 70 years and features performers from around the world.
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world's largest arts festival, with more than 2,500 shows at over 250 venues.Chief executive Shona McCarthy said: "Just a few months ago, the idea of Edinburgh without the Fringe and our sister festivals would have been totally unthinkable; now, like so many other aspects of our day-to-day lives, we must pause and take stock in the face of something far bigger."Our hearts go out to the doctors, nurses, health and social care
