Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley revealed a new skill as she spilled the tea on her showbiz career during a special visit to Bolton. Lisa, who plays soap icon Mandy Dingle, returned to the town she fell in love with while growing up in neighbouring Bury to host an afternoon tea at Bolton Food and Drink Festival 2022.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic The Nashville Film Festival announced the full lineup Friday for a fall gathering of filmgoers in Music City that will begin with the Brandi Carlile-produced documentary “The Return of Tanya Tucker” as the gala opening on Sept. 29 and end with director Sacha Jenkins’ “Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues” for closing night on Oct. 5. The 53rd annual edition of the festival will take place both in-person and virtually, with a selection of more than 150 films that includes 38 full-length features, about 30 of which will be world, North American or U.S. premieres. Although the virtual component continues to be strong for the festival, its leaders note that of the 150 or so films in the festival, more than 50 will screen for audiences in Nashville venues, starting with the Tanya Tucker doc, which will be seen in the historic main auditorium of the city’s beloved Belcourt Theater, one of the original homes of the Grand Ole Opry. Other locations include the Franklin Theater in the nearby city of that name, and the TPAC Andrew Johnson Theater in downtown Nashville.

Wargasm have announced a last-minute show at Reading Festival 2022.The London duo – comprising Milkie Way and Sam Matlock – will open the event’s Main Stage East at 12pm tomorrow (August 27) ahead of sets from the likes of AJ Tracey, Wolf Alice and headliners Arctic Monkeys.Enter Shikari – whose new single ‘The Void Stares Back’ features a guest appearance from Wargasm – are also scheduled to perform at Reading tomorrow (Main Stage West, 16:50), suggesting that a live collaboration could be on the cards.It’s not yet known whether Wargasm will fill the same vacant slot at Leeds Festival on Sunday (August 28).

The festival will open with a gala screening of “Ashgrove,” Jeremy LaLonde’s Canadian drama about a scientist in the distant future attempting to find a cure for a water shortage crisis. The festival will host nine gala screenings in total, including abortion drama “Call Jane,” country music documentary “The Return of Tanya Tucker: Featuring Brandi Carlile,” Anna Kendrick film “Alice, Darling” and closing night film “Presque (Beautiful Minds).” In addition to the gala screenings, Cinéfest will also host 18 special presentation screenings, 19 films in its Canadian features spotlight, 10 in its Canadian documentary spotlight, five in its Indigenous filmmakers series, 19 in its world cinema series, four in its world doc lineup and 68 short films. Notable films set to screen at the festival include Toronto International Film Festival premiere “Emily” starring Emma Mackey, Cannes Palme D’or winner “Triangle of Sadness,” Mia Hansen-Løve’s “One Fine Morning” and documentary “The Issue With Tissue” about the Indigenous people who live in Northern Ontario’s boreal forest.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is going global in a big way, hitting major festivals around the world and the US, beginning with the Fall trifecta of Venice, Telluride, and Toronto. All that is according to new CEO Bill Kramer who is continuing his inaugural outreach tour not just to members of AMPAS, but also the press. In addition to the A.Frame interview earlier this month with Kramer that was distributed to all 10,000 ish members as well as media outlets (and which Deadline reported on), Kramer this week held a Zoom press conference with key consumer outlets as well as the Hollywood Trades. He was keen to emphasize the org is going to once again be front and center at major events , and that means everywhere including reinstating their London membership meeting, and even adding one in Copenhagen.
