East Kilbride research scientist plays important part in battle against brain cancers

East Kilbride research scientist and amateur footballer has played his part in improving treatment options for those battling brain cancers.

James Cameron, 26, who plays for EKYM, worked on a collaborative research project while studying for his PHD at Strathclyde University.The findings were published in a leading scientific journal and James is now forging ahead in his career with the science firm, Clinspec Diagnostics, based in Glasgow.They are developing a blood test for cancer and other diseases.In simple terms this test uses infrared light to examine a patient’s blood sample to detect the signals of cancer, with a technique called infrared spectroscopy.
