Drivers using their mobile phones at the wheel will face a £200 and six points on their licence from next week. The law change - coming into force on March 25 - means that rules will be tougher for those using phones and other devices will driving.

Tragically, 17 were killed on British roads in crashes involving motorists distracted by mobile phones during 2020. A further 114 people were seriously injured with 385 slightly injured in such collisions during the same 12 month period, according to the Department of Transport.

As a result the Government is making rules on mobile phones in cars clearer, so you can more easily be fined or prosecuted in you break the law.

In a bid to warn drivers of the new rules, car and van leasing company Nationwide Vehicle Contracts created a guide on what you will now need to do and not do to avoid fines and points on your licence.
