Dolly Parton Inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame After Initially Rejecting Nomination

Dolly Parton is going to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after all. On Wednesday morning (May 4), the Hall announced that the country music superstar would be honored alongside Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Eurythmics, Lionel Richie and Carly Simon. To be considered, artists must have dropped their first record 25 years before induction. The 2022 class also has the distinction of being the first time that six female acts will be inducted in one class.

When it was announced that Dolly had been nominated earlier this year, she released a statement saying that while she was “extremely flattered” to be up for the honor, she didn’t feel she had “earned that right.” More recently, the “Jolene” performer shared that she had changed her mind about the nomination.
