Dolly Parton is ‘honoured’ to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame despite previously trying to remove herself as a nominee.

The country legend has been welcomed in the performers category along with Eminem, Duran Duran, Lionel Richie, Pat Benatar, Eurythmics and Carly Simon despite previously trying to get herself off the list.

Responding to the news, Dolly wrote: ‘I am honored and humbled by the fact that I have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ‘Of course I will accept it gracefully.

Thanks to everyone that voted for me and to everyone at the @rockhall. I will continue to work hard and try to live up to the honor. ’ (sic)John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, said in a statement: ‘This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock and roll. ‘Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed. ’Dolly previously revealed that she didn’t want to be nominated as she didn’t want to deprive the honour from a rock artist and was unaware that so many musicians outside of the genre were already included.
