The police have been referred to a watchdog after a dad, young twin boys, and their brother were found dead in a house yesterday.

Cops confirmed the children found at the property in Staines, Surrey on Saturday, August 31, were all under the age of four.

Officers were called to the house by ambulance crews at around 1.15pm.Police have said all four people were related and confirmed they have now made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, citing "previous contact" with the family earlier in August, although did not divulge any further details, reports the Mirror. It's believed the man was the father of the three children, who were twin boys and a brother.

Authorities have yet to confirm their identities but their loved ones have been informed. The force also confirmed in an update on Sunday that all three children were "under the age of four" and that their mother was currently being supported.
