Council's Covid test appeal to limit school disruption

Secondary pupils across North Lanarkshire are being reminded of the importance of taking Covid tests throughout the new term to “keep disruption to a minimum [and] help prevent outbreaks of the virus”.

Council officials are asking pupils at the area’s 23 high schools to test with a lateral flow device (LFD) either the night before or on the morning classes begin this Monday, January 10, and to continue their twice-weekly tests thereafter.

The request is “to limit the spread of infection in the school community” amid rising infections of the Omicron variant of coronavirus; with all staff in schools, early learning and childcare settings also being asked to follow the same testing advice.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
