Former Coronation Street actress Katie McGlynn invited the cameras to join her as she underwent a smear test.This week marks Cervical Cancer Awareness Week – and the actress allowed Lorraine's crew to go behind closed doors and accompany her.

Katie is passionate about the subject and has already raised awareness about cervical cancer in an important way. Her Corrie character Sinead Tinker died from the disease in 2019, but she says more needs to be done.

On Tuesday morning's show, viewers got to go along with Katie to see for themselves that there is nothing to fear. “Cervical screenings are the best way to protect against cervical cancer,” 27 year old Katie said as she filmed herself heading to get her screening. “But many of us are still.
