COLEEN and Wayne Rooney’s neighbours have been successful in blocking plans to turn land near their £20million mega-mansion into a traveller site.

Approximately 1,000 locals petitioned against the proposals to convert farmland in Cheshire, which is also close to former Man Utd defender Wes Brown and his Real Housewives of Cheshire star wife Leanne.

Michael Maloney, who describes himself as a “member of the Irish travelling community” wanted to build three sites in Cheshire, near where many of the north’s rich and famous live.
