Both Manchester City and Manchester United have signed some exceptional under-21 players over the years, and a new survey reveals where Premier League giants should be looking for new talent to nurture.
A global study by the CIES Football Observatory has revealed which clubs give youngsters the greatest opportunities to prosper.
League by league, it lists the percentage of minutes of first-team football each club handed players under the age of 22 during the 2019/20 season.
So armed with that information, where should scouts from City and United be looking? Of the major European leagues, the Eredivisie in Holland in sixth overall with a remarkable 27.9% of minutes played by youngsters, and that is reflected by its leading clubs.
