Calls for overhaul of £25 Cold Weather Payment scheme to help more people with heating bills

energy suppliers to raise prices on standard tariffs, comparison and switching website, energyhelpline.com, is calling on the UK Government to overhaul the Cold Weather Payment scheme so that it supports more people in need during the winter months.Almost 3.65 million people are eligible for the £25 payment and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) recently confirmed that more than 700,000 payments have been made so far this winter across the UK.The Cold Weather Payment scheme offers people on a low income, in receipt of certain benefits £25 towards their energy bill for each seven-day period of very cold weather between November 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021 - you can check if your area is due a payment on the GOV.UK website.
