Nelly has been cast as the late Chuck Berry in the forthcoming Buddy Holly biopic.Clear Lake, which is being directed by Bruce Beresford from a screenplay written by Patrick Shanahan, has been authorised by the Buddy Holly estate through BMG, which manages the Holly estate and controls the US publishing rights to his catalogue.As Variety reports, Nelly will take on the role of rock’n’roll pioneer Berry, who died in 2017, in Clear Lake. Ruairi O’Connor has already been cast as Holly, who died in a plane crash at the age of 22 in February 1959.Colin Hanks has also been cast in the film, where he will play Holly’s manager and producer Norman Petty.
