British Gas gives exact date most households turn their heating on

As temperatures drop many households will consider popping the heating on, but there may be some who are holding out for longer than usual this year.

At the beginning of this month energy prices rose, which would see an average household now paying £2,500 a year on bills - up from £1,971 on average.

This may leave some more hesitant to use their heating. According to British Gas, holding out is fairly normal in the UK with the typical household first turning on their heating on October 24.

So, if you have already used your heating this year, you are ahead of the majority of Brits, Mirror Online reports.The Big Six energy provider analysed the habits of its seven million customers to find that most Brits hold out until the end of October.
