The Chancellor has announced a new bonus scheme to encourage employers to get furloughed staff back to work.Announcing a mini budget in the House of Commons this afternoon, Rishi Sunak said employers would be paid £1,000 for each employee they bring back in.The jobs retention bonus, as it has been named, will be paid as long as the employee i kept in work until January, and is paid at least £520 per month, on average.The scheme could cost the government up to £9bn if all furloughed workers return, the chancellor said.Mr Sunak told MPs that the furlough scheme could not go on indefinitely and will be wrapped up in October, as previously announced.He said: “Leaving the furlough scheme open forever gives people false hope that it will always.
