The Chancellor Rishi Sunak has tonight announced that charities across the UK will receive a £750 million package of support to help them survive the coronavirus crisis.

Tens of thousands of charities in the UK are set to benefit from the package, which should help them to meet increased demand caused by COVID-19.

Around half the cash will be directly allocated by Government departments to charities providing key services and supporting vulnerable people during the crisis.

A further £370m will be targeted at small and medium-sized charities, with some of the money coming from the National Lottery Community Fund for those in England.
