Police had to call for a bomb squad to provide assistance after a small number of "potentially suspicious packages" were found inside a property during a raid.Residents were ordered to evacuate their homes on Wednesday afternoon to make way for the Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, who carried out work at the house in question.

Bomb experts carefully made their way into the building, in Thornhill, West Yorkshire, to examine and defuse and potential dangers.

A police cordon remains in place in the nearby area as officers continue to carry out their investigation into the threatening discovery.

However, cops have issued a statement this evening to reassure residents that people have been evacuated as a “precautionary measure”.
