A man who killed a beloved grandfather with a single punch during a row over bullying has been jailed. Luke Daniel Williams was said to be 'pumped up' when he fatally attacked Karl Saffy in Cristionydd in Wrexham, a court was told.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to six years, minus 134 days he has already spent in custody on remand.

The defendant put his head in his hands when the decision was read out at Mold Crown Court, Wales Online reports. He and his father David Williams had visited the home of the victim's ex-wife in August last year about a disagreement that neither were directly involved in, a judge said. The judge said Williams should have stayed away and contacted police if he had concerns about bullying.Instead, the defendant, of Penycae, Wrexham, became "pumped up" over "family loyalty" and ended up punching 57-year-old Mr Saffy near his right ear as he changed his shoes on the stairs of his ex-wife's flat.A pathologist said he was "effectively brain dead" before he hit the ground. The incident was witnessed by Mr Saffy's horrified family, including his granddaughter Lexi, now eight.

It was a "deeply traumatic memory" which she should not have, the court was told.Prosecutor Tom Challinor said Mr Saffy's ex-wife Susan Saffy lived in flats at Cristionydd. Her daughter Natasha's daughter was being chased by a boy and he was told to "go away".Five minutes later, Natasha saw Alison Williams and Tasmin Williams - the defendant's mother and sister respectively - approach her flats.
