Aldi store manager nets £26,000 payout after being ‘forced from job’

An Aldi supermarket store manager has pocketed a £26,000 pay-out after an employment tribunal ruled he was forced from his position.

Barry Williams quit his job as a store manager without notice on February 26, 2019, after a period of 10 years working for the retailer, while he was caught up in a disciplinary investigation.

An Employment Tribunal heard Williams “loved his job” and was once so well thought-of he was drafted in to help turn around underperforming stores for the discount retail giant.

However the tribunal heard Mr Williams only remained “well-regarded” by his employers until around 2018, when the performance of his stores dropped.
