Alison Hammond broke down in tears over the death of George Floyd as This Morning poignantly marked Black Lives Matter. Alison appeared on the ITV programme today via phone link as the episode aired a black out to show solidarity with the international human rights movement, which campaigns against violence and systemic racism towards black people.
The 45-year-old opened up to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about the importance of the movement, as well as the Blackout Tuesday campaign on social media.
She also discussed the death of Mr Floyd, the unarmed African-American man who was killed by a white police officer on May 25 by kneeling on his neck, which has since sparked protests across all 50 states.
