Aldi has announced all store colleagues across Scotland, and the rest of the UK, will receive their second pay rise of the year that will exceed the living wage.

The budget supermarket giant - which currently operates more than 970 UK stores - has confirmed that 26,000 employees will see their hourly pay increase by 40p starting from September.

It means that store assistants will now see their pay increase to £10.50 an hour nationally, while those inside the M25 will increase to £11.95 an hour.

Aldi's new rates of pay allows the supermarket to hold on to its crown as the best paying UK supermarket, as well as exceeding the the Living Wage Foundation’s recommended real living wage of £9.90 an hour nationally and £11.05 inside the M25.
