ABC is moving forward with its’ Wonder Years reboot. The network announced today that the Lee Daniels produced series has given a formal pilot order to start shooting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new version of the popular series will focus on how a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama, in the turbulent late 1960s made sure it was “the wonder years” for them, too.
The original series, which aired from 1988 to 1993, centered on a white middle-class family. The show made its young stars, Fred Savage and Danica McKellar, into household names. Fred will be part of the new series as an executive producer and will direct the pilot, too.
