A78 carriageway to close for six nights as £68,000 River Irvine bridge works project planned

Motorists in Irvine are being warned to expect six nights of disruption due to a section of the A78 closing for bridge maintenance works.Roads firm Amey today announced they will carry out essential bridge expansion joint replacement on a key route over the River Irvine from Monday, June 27 until Saturday, July 2.The works – to take place between 8pm and 6am each evening – will result in a total closure of the A78 northbound carriageway between Warrix Interchange and Newhouse Interchange.There will also be an offside lane closure of the A78 northbound carriageway between these two locations.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained. Amey is carrying out the work on behalf of Transport Scotland as part of the network management contract for the south-west road trunk unit.
