A composting toilet, protecting seven trees and new housing were among the decisions made by councillors on Manchester's planning committee this week.

Plans for 224 houses at the Northenden campus of Manchester College, which will close next year, were given the green light at a town hall meeting.

Six family homes will also be created at a former nursing home in Didsbury which is due to be converted into housing after lying vacant for two years.
