ZOE Ball’s boyfriend is claiming benefits — after being ordered to pay almost £20,000 in child maintenance arrears. Former construction firm boss Michael Reed, 50, has been accused of signing on to dodge the payment.

His ex, Lorraine Ashdown — the mum of his four-year-old daughter — slammed him for living the “high life” with Zoe while “avoiding his responsibilities”.

Reed is believed to have moved in with TV and BBC Radio 2 star Zoe, 49. We told last month how the Child Maintenance Service had ruled at a tribunal that Reed owed £19,290.94 to Lorraine, after under-estimating his earnings.

But business manager Lorraine has been told by the CMS that they cannot chase him for the money owed because he is now on “benefits”.
