Woman airflifted to hospital by coastguard helicopter after fall on remote moorland

Oldham Mountain Rescue Team volunteers called in the Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter. The 23-year-old year woman was airlifted to hospital for treatment on her injured ankle.Some 22 volunteers were involved in the three and a half hour rescue operation.

A post on the Oldham Mountain Rescue Team Facebook page said: "At 15:41hrs on Saturday, we received a request from Greater Manchester Police for assistance with the location and evacuation of a 23-year-old female who had fallen and injured her ankle somewhere in the Dovestones area, although her exact whereabouts was unknown. "Fortunately, we were able to use PhoneFind technology to accurately pinpoint the casualty and get Team members moving.
