Wimbledon, the famed tennis tournament taking place on the outskirts of London, England every year, has been cancelled for the first time since World War II back in 1945, ESPN reports.
The annual tennis event was set to take place from June 29 to July 12. There is a growing list of events that are being cancelled due to the growing international health crisis including the Tokyo Olympics, the NCAA men’s and women’s college basketball tournaments, the European soccer championship, countless movie releases, and more.
Every year, Wimbledon draws in huge crowds and many very famous celebrities and public figures gather to watch the greatest in the sport compete.
