coronavirus cases rocketed over the weekend after a 'glitch' failed to report them last week. Instead, around 16,000 confirmed cases of the virus were added to Sunday's (October 4) figure of 22,961.The 15,841 additional cases were actually recorded between September 25 and October 2 but not included on previous days because of a technical issue, the Government's dashboard said, adding Sunday’s data is 'therefore artificially high for England and the UK'.A spokesman for PHE told the PA news agency that the issue occurred when people who tested positive were not recorded once an Excel spreadsheet reached its maximum size.The BBC is reporting that 8,000 of the 16,000 missing coronavirus cases that weren't reported to contact tracers were from.
