Following an emergency Cobra meeting on Monday, new measures have been put in place to help fight the coronavirus pandemic.
As of 9am on Monday morning, a total of 1,543 people had tested positive for coronavirus in the UK. At least 36 people have now died in the UK after contracting Covid-19 after Wales announced its first death today.
On Monday (March 16) the Prime Minister chaired a Cobra meeting which was then followed by a press conference alongside chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty and chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance.
During this, Boris Johnson said people over 70 are being asked to avoid unnecessary social contact with other people and people should start working from home "where they possibly can".
