The crash, which involved a lorry and two cars, happened on the A57 Cadishead Way in Irlam at around 11.30am yesterday. Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the scene.

The air ambulance was also called. Police have now confirmed that a 62-year-old man and a 39-year-old man were both taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the lorry remained at the scene to assist officers and no arrests have been made. The road was cordoned off for around five hours after the crash yesterday.
