Man charged with murder of takeaway owner found dead in an abandoned car off the M62

For the latest Tameside news sign up to the MyTameside newsletter here A man is to appear in court charged with the murder of a takeaway owner found dead in a car abandoned on a remote moorland road almost two years ago.

The body of 19-year-old Najeebullah Nekzad, from Ashton-under-Lyne, was discovered by a PCSO in a grey Fiat Punto on New Hey Road, Huddersfield, on August 31, 2019.

Detectives launched a murder inquiry after it was discovered Mr Nekzad, who was originally from Afghanistan, had died of neck injuries.

He was last seen leaving his workplace, the Chick Corner takeway in Ashton-under-Lyne, on August 28. On Tuesday West Yorkshire Police announced Gol Zazai, 29, of Albemarle Terrace, Ashton-under-Lyne had been charged with murder.
