Two men charged after Cumbernauld shooting which killed dog and injured Marc McDermott

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting in Cumbernauld . Marc McDermott was shot in the back and backside during the attack.

A dog walker was also injured and her pet, a white Maltichon called Henry, died as a result of a firearm being discharged. The incident took place in Brunswick Gardens at around 6.55pm on Thursday, 23 January 2020.The two men, both aged 23, have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and will appear at court at a later date.Enquiries remain ongoing.McDermott, 27, was rushed to hospital after the shooting earlier this year.

His injuries were not life-threatening.A silver Ford Focus was later found burned out a short distance away at Fannyside Mill, at Forrest Road near to the Blackthorn
