Tom O'Connor dead: Opportunity Knocks comedian dies age 81

Comedian Tom O'Connor has died at age 81 on Sunday 18 July, his family have confirmed.The cause of his death has yet to be revealed but the legendary television star passed away in hospital, following a 14 year battle with Parkinson's disease, according to his daughter-in-law, Denise Lewis, Tom was a legend on the small-screen after swapping his job as a mathematics and music teacher for a career in comedy.

He rose to fame on Opportunity Knocks, which he won three times, before going on to star in The Comedians. Tom saw continued widespread success by taking on hosting responsibilities shows such as Name That Tune and Crosswits.
