Bolton Aquarium turned 80 years old this week and has welcomed millions of visitors to see its surprising array of exotic creatures over the years.
It boasts the surprising honour of being the only public aquarium in the region.The doors were first opened to Boltonians on January 27, 1941, when the exciting new attraction wowed visitors with its exhibits.It is now home to more than 70 varieties of fish originating from across the globe and is a vital part of international conservation efforts for endangered species.Prior to the national coronavirus lockdown, which has forced the aquarium to close, it attracted more than 100,000 people each year to its home below Bolton Museum on Le Mans Crescent.But since the building has been closed,.
