Kilmarnock chef says he had sleepless nights over quitting his job at a prestigious hotel to start his own business.Furloughed from his job at the Lochside Hotel in New Cumnock during the first Covid wave last year, Robert Steel decided to motivate his creative taste buds.The 29-year-old started making tray bakes for family and friends — with his eye for sweet treats proving more fruitful than he ever could've imagined.Almost one year later and Robert, who was the second head chef at the Lochside, has quit his job and opened his own cheesecake shop in Kilmarnock.Asked whether he would've taken the plunge on such an ambitious project, Robert joked: "No, I'd still be slaving my arse off in a kitchen for minimum wage!
