Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy said Thursday he would not be joining his colleagues in support of a state lawsuit aimed at delaying the appointment of presidential electors in four battleground states, breaking with top GOP lawmakers in his state.
Roy said several of his colleagues in Congress filed an amicus brief supporting the Texas lawsuit, but he said he would refrain from doing so himself. "Respectfully, I will not join because I believe the case itself represents a dangerous violation of federalism and sets a precedent to have one state asking federal courts to police the voting procedures of other states," he said.
