Stewartry set to celebrate 75th anniversary of VE Day on May 8

The 75th anniversary of VE Day will be marked across the Stewartry tomorrow.Balmaghie Kirk is set to be lit up in the colours of the Union Flag to mark the occasion.The church has been bathed in blue every Thursday night as part of the Clap for Carers celebrations.At last week’s were particularly noteworthy.

The church bell rang 100 times to celebrate the 100th birthday of NHS fundraiser Captain Tom Moore.Bunting will be put up along the side of the avenue on the approach to the church and there will also be red, white and blue balloons.Repairs to the kirk’s war memorial may be completed in time for tomorrow’s celebrations.Lady Susie Ross is planning to fly the largest Union Flag she can find at Netherhall.Local Initiatives in Dalry have
